This policy explains what information Abide collects, how it's used, who can see it, and how you can control or delete it. We've tried to write it in plain language.
Information we store
Account data
- Your email address and authentication provider (e.g. Google or email/password)
- Your pseudonym and, if you choose to set one, a display name and avatar
Content data
- Prayer requests, journal entries, community posts and replies, and vents
- Friendships, groups, and group membership
- Progress, streaks, and garden state
- Bible notes, highlights, and reading history
- App settings, synced across your signed-in devices

Pseudonymous vs. anonymous posting
When you post pseudonymously, your chosen pseudonym is attached and consistent across your posts, so others can recognize you over time. When you choose to post anonymously (where available), your post is shown to others without your pseudonym attached — but it is still linked to your account internally, so our moderation and safety team can act on reports and protect the community.
AI-assisted features
Some features — such as study helps, audio Bible narration, and translation — use third-party AI providers. Text or audio you submit to these features is sent to those providers to generate a response, and is retained only as long as needed to deliver the feature. It is not used to train AI models. Because these requests pass through a third party, please avoid submitting sensitive personal information in AI-assisted features.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Retention
- Content you delete is removed from the app immediately, and purged from backups within 30 days.
- Deleting your account removes your account and personal content; anonymized, aggregate data (e.g. overall usage statistics) may be retained.
- Moderation records may be kept longer than other content where needed for safety and accountability.
